Marquette Park, Chicago (where the big anti-King riot occurred in 1966) was the best place in the USA for Rockwell to find himself at that time. It had the largest concentration of post-World War II Baltic States DP’s/refugees in the country. Think of it-the only way the vast majority of those people could have escaped from the Soviets in 1945 was under the protection of the German armed forces. Rockwell was planning to move his HQ to Marquette Park when he was gunned down.Frank Collin/Cohen of the Chicago Nazis (see “Blues Brothers” and “Skokie March”) followed up on that plan in the 1970s and gained a lot of local support along with the expected derision.
