Hunter Wallace of Occidental Dissent and Chechar of The West’s Darkest Hour have been engaged in a spirited discussion about the root cause of our problem. In this context, “our” refers to Western Civilization; White and European mankind. “Problem” refers to our cultural, political, and demographic demise. Hunter’s mastery of the subject matter and familiarity with every aspect of the debate is overshadowed by his Yankees as Primary Cause model, invariably pulling everything around to the dreaded villainous “Yankee”. Even when he concedes that Jews exceeded Northern White gentiles in their subversion of traditional White ideals and institutions, he frames them as Turbo Yankees, immigrants to America who adopted and excelled at the pre-existing anti-Southern agenda.
Granted, the Sephardic Southerner’s allegiance to the White side of the Southern racial binary and generally harmonious co-existence in the antebellum South does confound the more simplistic Jews as Primary Cause models. From the Southern perspective, it certainly looks like what Hunter Wallace is describing.
Chechar’s also unconvinced by the Jews as Primary Cause model. Being a White Mexican, he perceives the problem from the vantage point of a White civilization which choked and died on introgression and decadence, largely devoid of Jewish influence. He’s settled on a Christianity as Primary Cause model, answering the question of suicide affirmatively. Hunter Wallace also essentially embraces the suicide position, with suicidal Yankees hellbent on taking the South hostage and taking it down with them. The rather emotive and polarizing “Is it our fault?” question is, in my opinion, counter-productive. Whether or not we brought this problem on ourselves, God and nature place the burden on ourselves to strive for a solution on behalf of our ideals, our forefathers, and our posterity.
If I may peel an onion layer back from Hunter Wallace’s position, I believe it’s something of a variant of Chechar’s Christianity as Primary Cause position. He doesn’t indict the entirety of Christianity, being intimately familiar with how antebellum Christian institutions were, like Southern Jews, reinforcing components of the Southern system and way of life. The blame is pinned on a certain strain of New England Puritans and Quakers whose religious zealotry in favor of radical egalitarianism, Christian Universalism, and crusading moral imperialism served as the vanguard of the North’s ongoing assault on the American South and its way of life. Even Prof. Kevin MacDonald, the world’s foremost expert on Jewish subversion, insists that something foul was afoot in America before Jews burst to the fore.
According to my model, both individuals are merely scratching at the surface for a cause which lies much deeper. The proximate cause of the cracks in the foundation of Western Civilization is the dirt beneath the foundation quaking. But why did the earth quake? Why did all these people suddenly become so silly and destructive? And why did these silly and destructive people bubble up to the top? And how was the West’s power structure so weakened as to allow for a competitive (and deeply hostile) alien elite to emerge triumphant and virtually unchallenged at this turn of the millennium? How did all these awful suicidal ideas come to dominate our civilization?
To answer this question, we must look deeper than ideas, to the plate tectonics driving our civilization’s trajectory. The dynamics of power fuel the rise and fall of ideas. The Southern plantation system wasn’t brought down by the immorality of the institution of slavery or the zealotry of Yankee Puritans. It fell apart because the plantation economy upon which the Southern elites were perched gave way, and the ascendant Northern industrial elites were the natural and obvious competitors to fill that power vacuum.
Up until they were strategically useful, Northern abolitionists were (like ourselves) isolated and alienated cranks. Only when their sincere and passionate ideological positions became useful to an elite did they transform virtually overnight from irrelevant fanatics into a serious revolutionary vanguard. This was just as true for their progenitors in the Protestant Reformation. Throughout Medieval history, bands of isolated and alienated cranks defied Europe’s ecclesiastical elite, with little but charred corpses and frightened neighbors to show for their strong convictions. Only when the enriched and emboldened peasant merchants found them useful as proxies in their Masonic struggle against the Catholic Church did Protestantism actually become a serious social and political force.
To answer these questions in a predictive way capable of yielding coherent answers, we must explore the subterranean geography of what Julius Evola calls The Occult War. At the risk of overextending my geological metaphor, the elite oligarchies are shifting plates whose growth, contraction, and movement are the root cause of the visible earthquakes and terrestrial landscapes we can directly perceive. But what pulls these plates along?
According to my metapolitical framework, there are three root sources of power upon which the elites feed: force, influence, and exchange. Essentially, there are three ways to control other people and in doing so become a political elite. You can physically threaten and force another man to dig you a ditch, you can persuade him to dig you a ditch, or you can pay him to dig you a ditch. Historically, elites have come in these three primary flavors with predictable primary characteristics: martial elites who derive their power from force, managerial (ecclesiastical) elites who derive their power from influence, and mercantile elites who derive their power from exchange.
While every elite has its own unique character, the respective caste from which the elite emerge molds the basis of their worldview. Military elites project their organic honor codes and the nature of their hierarchies on their subject folk. Ecclesiastical elites project their divine laws and the nature of their hierarchies on their subject folk. Mercantile elites project their binding contracts and the nature of the bazaar on their subject folk.
In the Western context, the Middle Ages were caused by a balanced partnership between the civilization’s martial (aristocratic) and managerial (ecclesiastical) elite.
The Enlightenment and Protestant Reformation weren’t driven by ideas. The ideas of the time were driven by Europe’s nascent mercantile elite, engorged on wealth from global trade and colonial expansion, teaming up with the invasive Jews against the Ancien Regime. Their ascent brought with it an age of cancerous greed and the reduction of everything to a commodity, cramming everything into the merchant’s context, as an integral product of their very nature. The Jews were essentially catalysts of this trend which likely would have developed without them, pulling it in a direction more amenable to their own interests and more toxic to our own.
If recognizing that the Jews and capitalists are a hostile collaborative elite driving us to oblivion is akin to taking the red pill, then recognizing why and how they are doing so in a systematic and predictive manner is the infrared pill. Unless we start thinking and strategizing on this level, the level of the subterranean causation of visible causes, it’s highly unlikely that our hardy band of isolated and alienated cranks will make sense or become consequential in the overarching geopolitical scheme of things.
Christianity doesn’t matter, unless a Christian elite is truly dominant. When an elite exists under the aegis of an elite capable of crushing it, then it necessarily conforms itself to their interests or it’s driven out. Western Christianity only superficially appears to be driving the ideological revolution in the West because the ecclesiastical elite have necessarily conformed themselves to the circumstances. A church which firmly stood its ground against this age of greed, asymptotic production and consumption, and reduction of everything to mere economic commodities, or defied the will of the complementary Jewish elite, would barely be allowed to exist, and would certainly be driven out of favor.
The Catholic Church that Chechar envisions destroying Latin America and the Protestant Yankees Hunter Wallace envisions destroying Dixie are merely the zombie carcasses of Christianity, spearheads of the capitalist impulse to expand into their respective societies and steamroll over all the institutional and ideological obstacles to the profit which feeds the power structure. I believe that Chechar’s mistaken in identifying Christianity as the root cause, and I believe the examples from Byzantium and Medieval Europe, examples where the church’s true interests and influences could actually be observed, confirm that Nietzschean models of suicidal ressentiment and exegeses of multicultural humanist globalism are fundamentally flawed.
Fortunately, this oligarchy is already over-extended in a variety of contexts and threats to its hegemony are sprouting up all over the place. Iran’s ecclesiastical regime, China’s Mandarin elite, Russia’s Orthodox/KGB elite, and an eclectic milieu of third world forces (like Chavez, for instance) are gradually merging into an eclectic alliance against the vampire squid which is most firmly (though certainly not exclusively) planted into the Anglosphere and Western Europe. Its financial network, already leveraged to the breaking point, is fundamentally threatened by emerging cryptocurrencies and other efforts to escape its purview. If Greece and the other austerity-stricken nations are any indication, the political system predicated on the financial system may be far weaker than previously dreamed.
The Traditionalist Youth Network is designed from the ground up to make sense in the complete geopolitical context, mentoring a vanguard capable of developing relationships with the emerging elites both here and abroad which will fill the vacuum left by the implosion of the current elite, while also serving as a pragmatic vanguard of cohesion and advocacy at the grassroots local level. It’s the first attempt to adapt the European New Right’s ideals to the American context for street action, and it already includes an impressive selection of America’s most active and respected young street activists and public advocates.
